Druskininkai lies in southern Lithuania, surrounded by pine forest and close to the Polish border. There is no international airport or main-line railway station in the resort, but the journey from Germany is straightforward when it is divided into two parts: travel to Lithuania, then continue to Druskininkai by coach or car.
This guide compares the most practical routes from Germany, including direct flights to Vilnius, driving through Poland and travelling by rail. Schedules and fares change, so use the links below to confirm the details for your travel dates.
The quickest option: fly to Vilnius
For most visitors, flying to Vilnius Airport is the simplest choice. Lithuania’s 2026 route network includes direct connections between Vilnius and several German cities. Depending on the season and airline schedule, these include Berlin, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich. Berlin has year-round services, while Munich is served frequently. Always check the airport or airline timetable before booking because some routes are seasonal or operate only on selected days.
Vilnius Airport is about 125 kilometres from Druskininkai. Allow roughly two hours for the road journey, plus any waiting time between connections.

Vilnius Airport to Druskininkai by public transport
- Travel from the airport to Vilnius bus station. City buses 1 and 2 connect the airport with the station area. The small airport train reaches Vilnius railway station in about eight minutes; the railway and bus stations are next to one another. See the official airport transport information.
- Take a direct coach to Druskininkai. Several departures normally operate each day, with journeys taking approximately 1 hour 50 minutes to 2 hours 10 minutes. Search the current timetable and buy available tickets through Autobusubilietai.lt.
- Complete the short final transfer. Domi Lini is at Šlaito g. 4, around a short taxi ride from Druskininkai bus station. If you tell us your planned arrival time in advance, we can help you choose a sensible connection.
When comparing flights, avoid an unnecessarily tight coach connection. Leaving at least 90 minutes between the scheduled landing and the departure from Vilnius bus station gives useful protection against baggage delays and city traffic.
Flying to Kaunas: useful for western Germany
Kaunas Airport can be a good alternative, especially when travelling from Cologne or when the fare and schedule are significantly better. Kaunas is approximately 130 kilometres from Druskininkai. A rental car or pre-booked transfer is usually the easiest onward option. Public transport is possible via Kaunas bus station, but it normally involves an airport transfer and fewer convenient connections than the Vilnius route.
Compare the whole journey rather than the airfare alone. A slightly more expensive flight to Vilnius can still save time and reduce transfers.

Driving from Germany to Druskininkai
Driving works particularly well for families, longer stays and guests bringing sports equipment. The usual route runs east through Poland, then enters Lithuania near the Suwałki–Marijampolė corridor before turning towards Alytus and Druskininkai.
Approximate road distances vary considerably: Berlin is roughly 1,000 kilometres away, while journeys from central or southern Germany are longer. Treat online estimates as planning guides and add time for breaks, roadworks and congestion around major Polish cities.
- Lithuania and Germany are in the Schengen Area, but every traveller should carry a valid passport or national identity card.
- Passenger cars do not normally need a Lithuanian road vignette; charges apply to specified commercial and larger vehicle classes. Check the official rules if travelling in a motorhome or heavy vehicle.
- In Lithuania, dipped headlights are required throughout the year. Winter tyres are compulsory from 10 November to 31 March.
- Lithuanian motorway limits for ordinary cars are seasonal. Follow posted signs and consult the EU road-rules overview before departure.
- Domi Lini provides free on-site parking and EV charging for guests. Please tell us in advance if you plan to charge a vehicle.
Travelling by train through Poland
The rail journey is slower, but it can be attractive to travellers who prefer not to fly. Germany has frequent trains to Warsaw and Kraków. Lithuania’s international services link Warsaw, Kraków, Suwałki and Szczecin with Vilnius, with a scheduled change at Mockava. Tickets and current international timetables are available from LTG Link.
There is no passenger railway station in Druskininkai. From Vilnius, finish the journey with a direct coach. A rail itinerary from Germany therefore usually requires an overnight stop or a carefully planned same-day connection. It suits slow travel better than a short weekend break.
Long-distance coach from Germany
International coaches connect several German cities with Vilnius and Kaunas. They can be economical, but the journey is long and the final connection to Druskininkai still needs to be arranged. Compare total travel time, luggage rules and the exact arrival station before booking. For most guests, flying or driving offers a better balance of time and comfort.
Which route should you choose?
- Fastest and simplest: direct flight to Vilnius, then coach or private transfer.
- Best for families and longer stays: drive through Poland.
- Useful alternative airport: Kaunas, especially with a convenient Cologne flight or rental car.
- Best for flight-free travel: train through Poland and Vilnius, allowing generous connection time.
Plan the final part before you leave Germany
Book the international section first, then check the current Vilnius–Druskininkai coach timetable. Late-evening flight arrivals may require a night in Vilnius or a pre-arranged transfer. For the smoothest arrival, send Domi Lini your expected arrival time and transport method before travelling.
