Autumn is our favourite time of year at Domi Lini. The garden is still full of life, yet the pace becomes gentler. Apples deepen in colour, tomatoes ripen in the greenhouse, courgettes hide beneath broad leaves and the first fallen leaves appear on the lawn. Just beyond Druskininkai, the forest floor is bright with moss and, after rain, mushrooms.
These photographs were taken here at Domi Lini and in the forests surrounding Druskininkai at the beginning of September. They capture the season exactly as we experience it: abundant, colourful and quietly changing from one day to the next.
Autumn begins in the Domi Lini garden
Our garden is not only a view from the apartments. It is part of the atmosphere of staying here. In early autumn, late flowers continue to bloom beside the dark timber houses, ornamental grasses move in the wind and branches grow heavy with small red fruits. The colours become richer against Lithuania’s softer September light.

This is also harvest time. Tomatoes are ready in the greenhouse, courgettes still grow under their leaves, and apples invite us to think about simple seasonal food. For guests in our self-catering apartments, autumn suits an unhurried rhythm: breakfast at home, a walk or spa visit, and a warm evening meal prepared in your own kitchen.

Forest colours and mushroom season
Druskininkai is surrounded by pine forest. The official tourism centre describes it as Lithuania’s most forested resort, with many kilometres of walking, cycling and Nordic-walking routes. In autumn, those paths become especially atmospheric: green pine needles meet yellow birch leaves, the moss holds raindrops and the air feels cool and clean.

Mushroom gathering is a treasured tradition in Dzūkija, but it requires real knowledge. Never eat a wild mushroom unless it has been identified with certainty by a competent person, and respect local access and nature-protection rules. A basket is optional: the walk, colours and scent of the forest are reason enough to go.

A simple autumn day in Druskininkai
Autumn days do not need a busy timetable. Start with a slow breakfast at Domi Lini, then walk or cycle through the resort’s parks and forest paths. Vijūnėlė Park is attractive for an autumn ride, while the centre, Druskonis Lake and the Nemunas riverbank are easy to combine on foot. If rain arrives, turn the afternoon into spa time, visit a museum or enjoy the Aquapark.
The season also brings cultural events and changing programmes. Check the official Druskininkai tourism website shortly before your visit for current ideas and opening times.

Come and enjoy the slower season
Summer in Druskininkai is lively, but autumn has its own kind of luxury: more space, softer light, warm interiors after a cool walk and time to notice small things. At Domi Lini, that may mean wet apples shining on a branch, the last tomatoes of the season or a quiet evening surrounded by the garden.
